I consider that there many issues that can affect
learning in children, that’s why It is important that children can have
additional support to their needs if we want that they learn in a better way. Sometimes,
the learning environment is not appropriate for a child’s individual needs,
maybe the material used can be inaccessible to them or the teacher is not well
prepared in that area. In that case, children need extra help in order to do
some homework because if they are having those problems, they are not going to
be able to do them alone.
Family circumstances are affecting a lot in a child’s
ability to learn because his/her progress depends on what’s happening at home.
If the child’s parents are arguing all the time, the child may have difficulty
concentrating when studying because she/he will remember the discussion or
fight that they had, and that bad experience provokes them fear or dread.
That’s why the children start to misbehave or fight with their classmates
because intellectual and emotional development of children requires family
stability, which helps to achieve mental balance.
Children may also need additional support at school if
they have a disability or health problem. For example, if the children have
difficulty with movement or sight, specific language impairments or attention
difficulties or an illness, etc. They will need help from their family and
their teachers; they need to be well informed in order to give the children
special help. Eating disorder or mental health problems such as depression can
also affect children’s ability to learn because with those problems, they won’t
be able to do a good progress at school.
If a child is experiencing social or emotional
problems, he/she will also need additional help. For example, if a child is
experiencing racial discrimination, he/she is not going to feel comfortable going
to school. A child can suffer a lot if he/she is experiencing bullying because
when that happens, they don’t want to go to school or they end up committing
suicide. That’s why it is fundamental the communication between parents and
children because only in that way, they can find a solution to those kind of
problems that are happening around the world.
Hi Vero! I think that it is very important for the children to have support from their family and teachers to succeed, because they complement the educational process. Unfortunately not every child has this support and they have to move forward on their own, or maybe their parents canot help them with the homework, because they are illiterate. But it is nice that teachers and parents are in touch to improve children's learning.
ReplyDeleteYou are right girls, all kids need to have or to live in a good environment so that they can develop and grasp the best of what´s going on around them. And for sure, teachers must be prepare if they have to deal with a child who has any problem. And to do so, as teacher we have to get to the deep of the situation that is disturbing the child´s learning. That will be possible, when both, parents and teachers work together to achieve and assure the same goal, the children appropriate learning.

ReplyDeleteWhat you are saying is true, we have to remember that for children, the first education they receive is at home, and all depends on how well the parents are taking their role and responsibility! Children need a special care especially from their progenitors otherwise they find love and comprehension in other places and persons, like for example in the school, on the street, with their friends, etc. So, it may affect their emotions and thoughts, and all those stuffs are the results of how they behave in classes. In the other hand, the materials and the support they need to improve their education at school. Teachers must be well training in different areas; they should know what kind of abilities children have to create a better environment in the classroom. Sometimes the problem is that there are not enough resources that can help as a support of children.in the case of poor schools, children do not have access to the technology, then the teacher has to use other techniques to help in their educational development !!
Hello my friend, i can see how significant your entry is because you are paying attention to different problems that affect students at school.what call my attention is that students do not have the neccesary support for their learning, and you are right because i have seem different schools that present this problem because they do not have enough books and some classroom are not appropiated for students´s learning, but anyways is our reality.
